Overview of Statistics Canada Health Statistics Division’s survey program including: The Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) program (annual component, focus component, & supplements), National Population Health Survey (NPHS), Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS), and the Health Indicators program. This session will inform participants of the survey objectives, methodology, questionnaire content and dissemination plans for each of these surveys.

This hands-on workshop provides an overview of the various considerations to be taken into account when using the National Population Health Survey (NPHS) data. The workshop will also provide users an understanding of the variance estimation process using the bootstrap method using Bootvar.

Prerequisite: In terms of computer knowledge, participants should have at least basic knowledge of the SAS programming language used for the workshop.

This hands-on workshop is designed to familiarize potential National Population Health Survey (NPHS)* data users with different longitudinal data analysis methods to better address research questions on change, event occurrence etc. The workshop aims to heighten the importance of taking into account the survey design when analyzing data.

* Also adequate for other longitudinal survey data users.

To attend Day 3, you must have also attended the Day 2 workshop.

Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Statistics Canada's NPHS is desirable. In terms of computer knowledge, participants should have at least basic knowledge of the SAS programming language used for the workshop.

Cost

This workshop is sponsored by Population and Lifecourse Studies, the Research Data Centre at Western and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. There is no registration fee. Participants will be responsible for their own lunch arrangements.

You may register for Day 1 only or Full workshop.

Space is limited: 50 seats for Day 1 only, 25 seats for Full Workshop.  Register before Jan. 30, 2012
